Academic Building

SHoP Construction provided virtual design and construction integration services for the Fashion Institute of Technology's A-Labs project, located in New York, NY. This 60,000SF renovation, comprised of 14 labs, was completed in the fall of 2010. SHoP Construction’s services included the delivery of the digital model used to construct the project. The project’s building information model was developed by SHoP Construction during the preconstruction phase and was consistently updated during construction as a result of direct interaction with various trade contractors and on-site personnel. The project team worked with the contractors in the project’s ‘iRoom’ and in the field to ensure proper installation of building systems and components. The FIT A-Labs project is a Wick's Law project overseen and administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).
