The Fashion Institute of Technology’s C2 project is a 9-story, 100,000SF addition to and 60,000SF renovation of FIT’s existing C-Building. The proposed addition includes a multi-layered glass and metal façade. Contained within this thickened facade are the review and exhibition spaces and the primary circulation connecting the design studios with the sky-lit student quad on the 5th floor. As the design and construction integrator, SHoP Construction is conducting a complete BIM-VDC process for the project. At the onset, a BIM protocols document will be issued by SHoP Construction to the project team to facilitate a collaborative VDC process. Numerous BIM analysis tools have been utilized to date to manage the complexities of the curtain wall assemblies. FIT C2 shall be administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) and falls under Wick's Law regulations.
